Honestdoor Redesign Project

Company Overview

HonestDoor is a company that will tell you what any property in the city is valued at, the assessed price history, the date and value of previous transactions, annual property taxes, the neighbourhood growth rate and more, all at NO COST to you.

Project Overview

Honestdoor had never been through a UX design process, and the usability needed to be improved to ensure further growth.

Project Steps

  • Competitive Audit

  • Honestdoor Analysis

  • User interview

  • Initial Redesign

  • User Tests and Research

  • Final Redesign

I conducted some research on the buyers, sellers and realtors. I explored the demographics of homebuyers in Canada and their goals.

The research informed me of the users' goals and pain points:

  • High Brokerage Fees

  • Lack of sufficient and aggregated information for finding a suitable listing

  • Finding the best neighborhood and property

  • Bidding wars and offers that exceed the house appraisal value

  • Human bias in pricing

Persona One:
Blair, The buyer

Problem Statement

Blair, a busy career woman, needs a reliable and accurate source for checking real estate prices because she has no time to find and aggregate the information.

Blair is a 41-year-old project manager living in Vancouver. She lives with her cats and domestic partner.

Goals

Blair already owns an apartment, in which they reside. They are planning to purchase a second home as an investment

Frustration

Blair is having difficulty putting together all the information scattered around online in order to put in an appropriate offer.
